Growing complexity of IT environments
A recent report suggests that the global market for Managed Services focused on IT infrastructure and security is close to $ 300 billion now and will grow at a CAGR of 13% for the next 5-6 years.
One key driver for this growth is the sheer complexity of IT environments in most enterprises today. The underlying IT fabric of today’s enterprises is a fluid and sometimes messy mix of technologies, systems, tools, and methods. The coming of the various avatars of the cloud has only made this environment even harder to manage.
Even as that has happened, enterprises have found themselves depending more on their IT infrastructure to accomplish everything from the most basic to the most strategic tasks.
While those stakes rose, macroeconomic and other factors started putting pressure on costs. Security and regulatory compliance became boardroom concerns. And to add to that, came the war for talent.
This is the perfect storm for enterprise CIOs. Is it at all surprising that they are looking toward managed services partners to come in and help them keep the lights on in the face of such overwhelming challenges?
