A software product development company wanted to migrate to Oracle Cloud for better availability of their UAT, pre-production and Disaster Recovery infrastructure.
Client had initiated the process using a “lift & shift” approach to migrate their Hybrid on-premise environment comprising Windows and Linux VM’s, but were facing serious issues in upgrades, making the software cloud-suitable and hardware capacity planning support. To overcome these challenges, i-Source was chosen for this migration.
i-Source Solution
After starting the engagement, tight coordination was established between i-Source team and Oracle to quickly understand the gaps and teething issues.
Thorough rationalization of the server inventory - the total number of servers to be migrated, as planned by the client, was 258. After due reconciliation by i-Source, this number was trimmed to 167.
Created new VM’s on the Oracle Cloud
i-Source started with the migration of 5 VM servers and has over time, migrated 167 Linux and Windows servers.
Transition of the new Cloud infrastructure synchronizing with the on-prem infrastructure to ensure no down-time and performance issues.
